The mainstream media (MSM) and prominent climate scientists often paint a dire picture of what another Trump presidency would mean for the climate. For instance, Patricia Espinosa, the outgoing U.N. climate chief, warned that a second Trump term would be a "killer blow" for efforts to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

She emphasized that Trump's return to the White House would significantly hinder global climate action efforts, potentially leading to catastrophic environmental consequences. Similarly, climate scientist Michael E. Mann described a potential second Trump term as "game over" for climate action, arguing that Trump would dismantle both domestic and global climate policies, making it nearly impossible to meet international climate goals.

However, a closer examination of President Biden's tenure reveals some surprising trends that challenge the narrative of a uniquely disastrous impact from a Trump presidency. Despite Biden's strong climate rhetoric and initial actions, such as canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and placing a moratorium on new oil and gas leases on federal lands, fossil fuel extraction has not only continued but has reached record levels.
