Anything Mann says must be taken with a huge pinch of reality salt...
Many alarmists continue to believe, even if scientific facts do not support their predictions, that climate change will cause higher temperatures, lower temperatures, more snow and blizzards, drought, fire and floods, rising sea levels, disappearing glaciers, loss of sea ice at the poles, species extinction including polar bears, more and stronger storms, more storm damage, more volcanic eruptions, dying forests, death of coral reefs and shellfish, the shutting down of the Gulf Stream, fatal heat waves, more heat-related illness and disease, crop failure and food shortages, millions of climate-change refugees, increased cancer, cardiovascular disease, mental illness, and respiratory disease, and some say a devastating effect on the quality of French wines.
Last week Calfornians were complaining that hiking trails that weren't on fire had been shut down. Now we have fires starting on hiking trails. What are they doing? Dropping their lit doobies while out enjoying nature?
There's a reason the native populations in this area were small. While those that did choose to live in this area were proactive in preventing build-ups of wildfire fuel today the situation is reversed. Far left environmental extremists have for years been filing lawsuits with sympathetic judges to prevent the removal of dead and dying timber from state and national forests. The suits remain in effect until the timber is too insect infested to be worthwhile harvesting. At the same time the state of California has reduced the number of work crews that used to remove brush from public lands from 15 to just one. The most recent fires speak for themselves regarding the insanity of these practices.
This reminds me of the disaster on Maui, which was caused by decades of incompetence. 🙄 I liked Lahaina, now it is gone.
Matt, I also recommend Jon Keeley's article in Shellenberger's "Public" available on Substack.
Thank you. I will check it out.
